Tesla is edging closer to a new manufacturing technique
that could sharply cut costs and boost output of its electric vehicles.
The new procedure will allow the manufacturer to die-cast nearly the whole vehicle
underbody as a single piece rather than constructing out approximately 400 sections
using traditional car-making techniques, according to people who spoke to Reuters.
Currently, Tesla uses unusually large, extremely high pressure presses
by using massive presses with 6,000 to 9,000 tons of clamping pressure to mold.
